First Lost Tooth

Nathan lost his first tooth! Of course, he was afraid that it might hurt if Mommy pulled it out, so he waited until it basically fell out! It was so tiny that he actully lost it before the tooth fairy could come, but we assured him that if she saw a plastic baggie under his pillow, that she would know. Then when she didn't come the first night, (cuz maybe she didn't know!), he was excited to get double the money the next night!!! Dang tooth fairy!

Camden Blessing

We had the opportunity to go to Utah for Thanksgiving this year. Camden was only going to be a couple months at the time, so we decided to wait and bless him there with Mike's family. We were so glad Christine and Harrison got to come, too:)
This was the same blessing outfit that all of my boys wore. (Thanks, Mom!)

4 Reasons Why I Haven't Blogged

I have heard too many people lately asking me when I am going to start blogging again...so I feel the need to explain. So here are the 4 reasons I have not blogged for the last few months.
Reason #1: If you haven't heard...I just had a baby for goodness sakes! And for those of you that have had kids or have had 5, then you understand, don't you?! So give a girl a break!
Reason #2: Something happened to my camera. I had been having problems with it lately...and somehow all the pictures I had stored on it got erased:( So while I am still trying to figure out how to bring them back, we have to deal with no pictures.
Reason #3: I also at the same time I was having a baby, got a new calling. I am now the Enrichment counselor in the R.S. So anyone who has this calling or has had it in the past, any great ideas would be appreciated:)
Reason #4: It is the holidays, you know!!!!! Anybody have any EXTRA time? Yea, me neither. And that's why I haven't blogged!

Just so none of you are offended...Thank you for checking our blog periodically to see how our family is doing. We love you all and are grateful we can keep in touch a little better through blogging:)

Carter's Birthday

All Carter wanted for his birthday was a "kitchen". He loves to go over to his friend Megan's house to play in the kitchen. So even though it was only about 3 or 4 years ago that we got rid of one of those plastic kitchens because it took up too much room, we bunkered down and got another one! As you can see in the picture, he loves it! He had a super-fun day. His birthday landed on Labor Day this year, so even dad had the whole day off! (He spent most of it putting together that blasted kitchen:) Then we had cake with some of his friends. You know me and cakes. This one was super easy, and the kids liked it. I think all-in-all it was a good birthday. Sure fire way to tell is if a week later they are still playing with their toys they got. He is!!

Back 2 School

Back 2 school...back to a routine...back to homework...back to busy.
School and I have a love/hate relationship. I get so excited at the end of the summer for a routine back. For trips to the grocery store with less than 4 kids. For a little bit of quiet, and not so much fighting! But then again, we get back into math facts, and the dreaded homework, and being too busy to cook dinner, or having one-on-one time with anyone! You get the point. I think the kids have the same love/hate relationship with school that I do. They get to see their friends more and their siblings less:) They definitely can't say they're bored anymore! Yet they have the dreaded H word, and they get too busy to even have friends come over to play. No more playstation, computer, swimming all day. I guess we all have to come to grips. School & Summer are all a part of life...so look on the bright side of things. As soon as you get used to your kids having a routine and being back in school, it will be summer again!!!
BTW...Aren't these kids totally cute?!

Oh What Do You Do In The Summertime?

It's amazing how you don't have to go far for the kids to have a fun summer. Here are a few pictures of the kids at Avila Beach, and then at The Island Waterpark. Mike got to go with us on the last day. The kids looked forward to this probably more than anything! I think they were ready for someone who is NOT pregnant to go down the slides with them!

We didn't have any BIG plans this summer. Just the usual water park, movies, etc. So we let the kids pick one summer camp that they wanted to go to. Dallin chose basketball camp (which ended up being the same week as scout camp, but different times) He had a BALL (hee, hee) and found that this just may be his favorite sport. (Sorry no pictures) Amanda chose horse camp (surprise, surprise) Her and a friend got to do this one together, and at the last day, they performed for parents. Her horse's name is Smoke. We are so excited to have found her love of horses:) Nathan chose The Little Gym Camp. He learned lots of fun tricks on the uneven bars. The theme for the week he went was SPORTS. He felt like a big kid getting left for 3 hours each day! (No pictures there either. What a great mom I am!)

And last but not least, this is a picture of Carter AFTER the waterpark. Can't resist the pictures of a zonked out child!

Walk Down Memory Lane

I saw this on a couple of my friend's blogs, and it has been fun thinking up some good memories with friends and family that we've had over the years. So have fun!!!

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew/know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Happy Birthday, Mandy!

Our big girl is 10! I can't believe that we have had her for so long. Looking at these pictures makes me think it was just yesterday that we had her. We are so grateful for Amanda in our family. I don't think you can look at these pictures and not realize that she has a love of babies and animals!! We are certainly very lucky parents!! She will be a great mom some day! We love you, Amanda!

4th of July

We spent the 4th of July in Las Vegas with our friends, the Poulson's. We had exciting times visiting the water park, Hoover Dam, and setting off fireworks. As you can see by the pictures, Nathan is our one afraid of fireworks. He has always been sensitive to loud noises. I don't blame him! I remember many a 4th of July spent down in my basement while my dad lit off M-80's!!! Good times:) Another Independence Day come and gone; and we would just like to say how grateful we are to live in such a wonderful, blessed nation. And thank you to all who sacrifice their lives for our freedom.

Birthday Moments

I took a couple of pictures that I just had to add to the blog! 1- Dallin in his scout uniform. Isn't he so cute?!! This is our first scouting experience and many more to come!! The other pictures are of Dallin opening his birthday presents, and having his "crazy cake" that Dad made for him. This is a tradition from the Salway side that I have to admit, makes cake-making very easy. Just throw on whatever sweets they pick out on the top, and there you have it...CRAZY!!!!!
The last picture is Dallin the night before his birthday. He insisted on wearing the birthday hat to bed, and actually kept it on the whole night. Kids are so darn funny!

SPRING SPORTS

Still in the process of back-blogging:) Amanda participated in Track this year and really enjoyed it. She is definitely a short distance runner.
Dallin played baseball for the second year in a row. Last year was t-ball, and this year he played pitching machine. We played with the same coach, and most of the same players as last year. They have done a really good job of teaching the basics, and of being encouraging and optimistic for the kids. We think they are the greatest, and think that it gives Dallin a positive start into sports. As much as we enjoyed the seasons of track and baseball, we are happy they are over! The weather starts to get miserable so soon out here that no one wants to be outside watching sports, let alone playing it!!

My Baptism Day

I wish I could've put a baptism song to go with this!
Dallin's baptism was on June 7, 2008. Grandpa and Grandma Bartlett came all the way from Omaha. Grandma and Grandpa Salway came all the way from Utah. Chance Petersen, Dallin's cousin, came with Gma &Gpa from Utah. It was a very special day. We are so proud of you, Dallin!
